Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.Is this role right for you?
- Leads the day-to-day execution of the Customer Communications Composition Platform Modernization Program activities
- Demonstrates capability to expertly run large scale programs/initiatives in a scaled environment, with set budgets and timelines where there are multiple teams and verticals working
- Leads the execution of day-to-day project and task oriented work efforts, meeting customer expectations for contracted time, cost and specification definitions
- Able to Lead a squad/POD with multiple teams and competing priorities involved
- Responsible for the oversight of all interconnected projects within a Squad/Pod
- The Delivery Lead is accountable for the overall planning, execution, management and delivery of the Program/projects to ensure delivery on the business strategy and project objectives in the Business Case by managing the delivery process end to end.
- Oversee all project activities and team members for assigned Program to ensure Program goals and objectives are accomplished within approved time frames, scope and budget.
- Plan and manage large-scale development and implementation programs to ensure that the program’s business objectives and stakeholder needs and expectations are met
- Responsible for assembling, managing and maintaining an integrated Program project plan for all Program sub projects in execution that accurately reflects the critical path tasks, time estimates, dependencies and resources (including personnel, technology and equipment) associated with each task, ensuring the inclusion of all required System Development Lifecycle
- Responsible for directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality reviews; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately
- Direct Management of overall Program financials and reporting
- Manage Program risks and issues proactively by identification, assessment, ongoing management and reporting of program risks and issues. Timely escalation of risks and issues to senior management and key stakeholders as required ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks and resolve issues.
- Track and report Program progress against requirements and Program objectives throughout the project life cycle
- Creation of Program status reports and decks for project execution team and leadership team; works hand in hand with the Senior Manager of Development to prepare leadership status updates and reports on program health (execution status against plan, risks, issues, financials)
- Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations
- Strong knowledge of Agile Methodologies and best practices in Delivery. Work closely with other Delivery Leads to ensure the success of the programs and the projects.
- Operationalizes technical and managerial processes and supervises the development and maintenance activities within the team/program
- Coordinates communication with all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort being managed
- Manage Client Stakeholders for support on existing deliverables as well as new functions as part of project execution
- Assists in areas of scheduling, technical direction, future planning and standard development methodologies
- Negotiates IT project requirements (i.e. deadlines, budgets, resources, etc.)
- Builds and maintains solid, professional working relationships with peers within the project management, various control and support functions within the Bank and all business lines
- Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner, has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software solutions
- Works closely with Business stakeholders, Control and Support Teams across the Enterprise, interfacing application teams as well as the Agile delivery team of Business Analysis, Developers and Testers to understand business requirements that drive the analysis, design and development/delivery of quality technical solutions
- Facilitate agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning).
- Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution. Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved.
- Expert in estimating and planning. Knows how to create useful, reliable, and practical plans for software development projects.
- Guide and participate with team to get to educated estimates with the technical background and solution design experience.
- Work with a team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments. Being accountable for tracking the dependencies and impediments and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate.
- Conducts regular assessments of a team Agile Maturity and uses the results to guide them to improved performance.
- Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed and project status.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible/adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities
- Strong relationship management skills with an ability to establish productive relationships between various leaders, departments and partners across the organization
- Good content creation and presentation skills that are concise and clear to convey messages to all audiences.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or technical equivalent
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master and Delivery Lead with a minimum of 7+ years of hands-on development experience
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies and ceremonies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
- Proficiency in Service Now and similar ticketing tools
- Hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches
- Understands backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban based metrics, task definition, story splitting.
- Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working experience in JIRA/Confluence
- Deep understanding of software design principles and patterns.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and client relation skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives
- Knowledge of Scotiabank’s operations in order to understand and lead the implementation of strategic initiatives across a number of disciplines preferred is an asset
- Having certification in PMP, CSM, and Scrum are an asset
