Job Summary & Key ResponsibilitiesINTD 3102:03: Being Brown in Canada: History, Impact and Challenges of the South Asian Diaspora – Winter 2025A part-time academic is required to teach INTD 3102.03 – “Being Brown in Canada: History, Impact and Challenges of the South Asian Diaspora,” in the winter term of the 2024-25 academic year, January 2 to April 30, 2025. The part-time academic is responsible for all aspects of teaching, grading and administration of the class, including any tutorials, if required. In addition, the part-time academic is to be available for two hours per week outside of class time for student consultation. This class is offered in the winter term. The part-time academic reports to the Chair of the IDS Department .The expectation is that this course will be taught in-person.
Qualifications/Requirements of PositionA PhD in International Development Studies or a closely related discipline. “Being Brown in Canada: History, Impact and Challenges of the South Asian Diaspora,” focuses on the South Asian Community and its diversity. It also focuses on the patterns of migration linked to the colonial history, refugees of war, persecution, slavery and more recently, immigration through globalization and the labour market.All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
