The Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest has an opportunity forSenior BiostatisticianKunen-Lunenfeld Centre for Applied Research & Evaluation (KL-CARE)Position Type: Full-timeShift Type: DayBi-Weekly Hours: 70 HoursHours of Work: 7 hrs/shiftPosting Number: 8200Union: Non-UnionDate Posted: October 10, 2024Job Summary:KL-CARE is a support and services hub focused on working with healthcare professionals, researchers, trainees, and non-profit and commercial partners to facilitate and support clinical, applied, and evaluative research at Baycrest and beyond. The KL-CARE Senior Biostatistician duties will include collaborating in statistical design; data cleaning and management; conducting quantitative analyses; analyzing and interpreting data to develop reports, graphs, and publications; and provide support and consultation to KL-CARE clients.Responsibilities:
- Provide statistical consultation and mentorship to clinicians, researchers, trainees, and other clients regarding study design and analysis planning;
- Provide expertise and be responsible for data management, including extracting data from various data sources, preparing data for analyses (i.e., data cleaning), deriving additional measures to be used for analysis, and advising on data specifications at project initiation;
- In collaboration with other KL-CARE staff, provide input into database design for appropriate data entry and storage;
- Complete quantitative analyses and provide synthesized research results, charts, and graphs for operational and research reports, publications, scientific manuscripts, sample size calculations for grant and ethics applications as required;
- Develop and produce monthly/quarterly/annual reports for stakeholders and ad-hoc reporting for executives and funders.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a graduate degree in (Bio)Statistics, Epidemiology or recognized equivalent required; a PhD is preferred;
- A Stat. or P.Stat accreditation is also desirable;
- A minimum of 5+ years practical and related experience in applying statistical analysis methods in a healthcare setting and providing statistical methodological consultation and support to clients/stakeholders;
- Knowledge of research methodology, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques, statistics, and database development;
- Expert statistical skills, including computational analysis using SAS, R, and/or SPSS
- Expertise collaborating on reports, manuscripts, study proposals and grants;
- Ability to engage, support, and communicate with clients, colleagues, trainees and KL-CARE staff of various research backgrounds in statistical methodology and techniques;
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues
- Capability in manipulation, extraction, linking and analysis of data;
- Experience working with small and large health-based datasets is preferred
