Reporting to the General Manager, the primary objective of the Human Resources Advisor is to provide a full spectrum of Human Resources support services to the business unit in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and interpretation of human resources policies and procedures.About TC Transcontinental RBW Graphics:
This position is based at the TC Transcontinental RBW Graphics plant in Owen Sound, Ontario, which has been in operation for over 171 years. With over 425 employees, it is the largest commercial printing plant of magazines, flyers, catalogues, and directories in Canada. Owen Sound is a smaller city filled with cultural, outdoor, and recreational activities.What you will do:
- Provide advisory and administrative support to all levels for HR-related matters and business initiatives.
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for internal and external positions, including creating job postings, screening resumes, scheduling and participating in interviews, facilitating background and reference checks, and drafting employment offers and new hire forms.
- Lead the new hire onboarding process (documentation and training) for all new hires.
- Advise and coach managers and employees on HR-related policies, best practices, and employee relations issues.
- Participate in investigations related to workplace violence and harassment, performance management and absenteeism.
- Participate in coaching and discipline meetings and draft any letters or documentation as required.
- Communicate with employees on benefit-related subjects such as benefit enrolment, STD, LTD, and other approved leaves of absence.
- Develop leadership and human resources training programs.
- Lead various compensation programs such as annual/mid-year performance reviews, profit sharing, and job evaluations.
- Assist in employee engagement initiatives such as communication, gathering employee feedback, promoting rewards and recognition, and arranging events throughout the year.
- Communicate regularly with all team members through town hall meetings, newsletters and the employee intranet.
- Build trust and strong relationships with employees by spending time on the production floor.
- Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties and projects as directed by the General Manager.
What you have to offer:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management with at least two to three years of experience in an HR Advisor capacity.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- CHRP designation is an asset.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
- Ability to understand business requirements and work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and priority-setting skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong communication (written/verbal/listening), facilitation and presentation skills.
- Positive and professional while demonstrating the capacity to exhibit compassion and empathy.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to take initiative.
