More information about the department, including its course offerings, and the university can be found on our website at https://www.sfu.ca/globalhumanities.html.About the RoleThe Undergraduate Advisor provides advice to potential and registered undergraduate students of the academic requirements for the Department of Humanities. The role responds to inquiries regarding the undergraduate programs, including program planning, course offerings and selection, and degree requirements; clarifies university regulations by interpreting the academic calendar; and assists with the undergraduate registration process, programs of study, and graduation evaluations and activities including curriculum and scheduling. The Undergraduate Advisor acts as resource person for the department by providing a range of analytical information, coordinating the process of post-secondary transfer credit requests. The Undergraduate Advisor assists the Communications Coordinator with the preparation of academic promotional materials for internal and external publicity, including maintenance and oversight of social media accounts, program websites and other media.Our ideal candidate is committed to a people-centered approach, prioritizing the support of our undergraduate students, faculty, and fellow staff in their research and studies within the Department of Global Humanities. They take initiative, act with professionalism and integrity, and have excellent analytical reasoning, problem solving. and conflict resolution skills.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Arts and three years of related experience in post-secondary program and registration services or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of curriculum requirements of undergraduate program-related regulations and procedures and the ability to interpret and apply policies.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible or additional hours and attend events.
  • Proficient in the use of enterprise level information systems, content management systems and standard office software applications (e.g., PeopleSoft, AEM, Word, Excel).
