We are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to assume the role of Manager, Professional Development. In this leadership position, you will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and sustainability of professional development and educational programs for the OASW Learning Centre. Your responsibilities will include managing a small team of specialists and associates to address the learning needs of social workers across Ontario and ensuring the development of high-quality, accessible, and impactful learning materials.

Responsibilities

1.     Program Oversight

o   Lead operations, staffing, and planning for the OASW Learning Centre.

o   Develop work plans, oversee project budgets, and ensure objectives and financial accountability to funders are met.

2.     Supervision and Development of Learning Materials

o   Supervise and mentor an instructional designer to create engaging, high-quality, and accessible learning content for professional development programs.

o   Ensure alignment of educational materials with best practices in instructional design and adult learning principles.

o   Oversee the development of e-learning modules, webinars, and in-person training sessions to meet the diverse needs of members.

3.     Strategic Leadership and Innovation

o   Collaborate with the CEO to identify grant opportunities and develop sustainability plans for program delivery.

o   Lead revenue-generation strategies for the OASW Learning Centre and other professional development initiatives.

o   Integrate equity and anti-racism principles into all programming and processes.

o   Implement technological solutions to enhance workflows and member experiences.

4.     Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

o   Partner with internal teams (marketing/communications, community engagement, research, policy, digital innovation and member experience) to execute cross-functional projects.

o   Foster partnerships with senior leaders from other organizations to advance OASW’s goals.

5.     Event and Program Management

o   Plan and host large and small-scale professional development events, both in-person and virtual.

o   Ensure effective marketing and promotion of new learning products and initiatives.

o   Evaluate program outcomes and prepare regular reports on metrics and progress.

6.     Team Leadership

o  Mentor and coach staff, including the instructional designer, to ensure successful completion of work plans and professional growth.

o  Develop and manage strategies to drive organizational growth and maintain program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree or certification in adult education or a related discipline is a plus (social work candidates must be registered with OCSWSSW and OASW members).
  • 2+ years of experience in education, professional development, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of team management experience, including supervising instructional designers or similar roles.
  • Background in membership associations, volunteer boards, or non-profits is an asset.
  • Expertise in project management, event hosting, and facilitation (in-person and virtual).
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
  • Proficiency in relevant software/applications.
  • Proven experience managing grants and working with funding agencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience fostering an inclusive environment that respects and values diversity.
  • Experience embedding equity and inclusion principles in program design and team management.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Annual Salary: $80,000-$83,000
