Job Description:In order to ensure your application is received by NAIT for thorough review and consideration, please apply directly through our Careers site atNAIT’s Department of Continuing Education for the Academic Upgrading program is seeking a math contract instructor to teach high school grade 11 Math 20-2 course during the 15-week Winter 2025 term, January to April 2025. The Academic Upgrading program will be offering daily per week in-person delivery for full term.A contracted instructor must have a desire to maintain positive and professional interactions with adult learners at a variety of skill levels, ages, and backgrounds. Instructors must also be able to engage learners in interesting and innovative lessons within the classroom.Please note: those invited for an interview will be asked to do a short online demonstration lesson as part of the selection process.Contract Instruction Deliverables:

  • Provide classroom instruction using an outcome-based educational approach in a grade 11 or grade 12 high school Math course.
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and course delivery
  • Apply classroom management strategies to maintain an effective in-person learning environment for students
  • Prepare, create, and deliver lessons and activities that directly support the course Learning Outcomes in a classroom environment
  • Create and administer in-person assessments according to Learning Outcomes
  • Evaluate and assess student learning and performance
  • Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required
  • Liaise with the Academic Upgrading staff and colleagues to ensure content relevance, consistent delivery of course materials and testing across sections
  • Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues
  • Respond professionally to student issues and concerns
  • Seek feedback from students on instructional effectiveness

  • Energetic in leading and motivating students
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills
  • Become proficient in the use of NAIT-LMS Brightspace (D2L), Microsoft Teams, and supported tools for online.
  • Ability to prepare, create, deliver, and modify course content to meet varying student learning needs
  • Strong orientation to student success and satisfaction and empathetic to student needs
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Computer skills related to course delivery
  • Strong online technology skills
  • Strong understanding of AB High School Biology curriculum

Qualifications:

  • Related B.Ed. or relevant degree preferred
  • Proficient in using learning technologies
  • Related instructional experience at the high school or post-secondary levels an asset
