The Department of Food, Agricultural, and Resource Economics (FARE) at the University of Guelph invites applications for a Tenure-Track Appointment as an Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date for this appointment is July 1, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025.
Qualifications
We seek a dynamic, collaborative individual who complements the department’s expertise. Applicants must have or be close to completing a PhD in agricultural economics, economics, or a related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate
• a strong existing or emerging original & high-quality internationally recognized publication record.
• the potential to become a high-quality post-secondary instructor at all levels.
• a clear ability to mobilize and transfer their knowledge to a broad community of stakeholders through outreach activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a high-quality externally funded research program in agricultural economics, with an emphasis on climate change issues & agricultural policy. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching as assigned by the department chair. Specific course assignments will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs. The department expects the successful candidate to develop and maintain teaching excellence. The successful candidate will support the growth of undergraduate and graduate programs and contribute to the department’s graduate program through the supervision of graduate students. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an effective outreach program that extends the impact of their research in informing public and private sector decision-makers. The expected distribution of effort for the position is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service/outreach.
