Your hourly rate will be based on number of summer terms completed with Metrolinx.Work Location: (East) 81 Middlefield Road, ScarboroughHours of Work: 7AM-3PM, Monday to FridayContract up to 4 months, starting in May 2025Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster, and easier. Working from May to August, Summer Students are required throughout our operational and administrative departments.What will I be doing?

• Assist staff with ground, lawn and plot maintenance, general building, and equipment maintenance (e.g. painting, mowing, servicing equipment, tools, and machinery)
• Operate and maintain vehicle, equipment and assigned tools
• Perform remedial and programmed maintenance and repair
• Provide basic and specialized janitorial services
• Perform detailed cleaning of GO Transit bus exteriors, including washing, polishing, and waxing
• Clean, washing, and disinfecting interior surfaces, including luggage compartments
• Use cleaning materials, tools, and equipment such as hoses, vacuum cleaners, mops, and squeegees
• Remove and dispose of waste / garbage from interior of buses, stations, separating recyclables

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
• Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
• Preference will be given to students who can commence work in May 2024
• Experience in facility maintenance, cleaning or landscaping is preferred
• Note: Requires the wearing of Protective Footwear (i.e. Safety Boots) to be purchased at your cost
