This job is also responsible for monitoring policy standards and tracking employee training data. This role not only involves the training of drivers but as well all Ministry of Transportation investigations as a result of fines and/or accidents.Role Responsibilities:
- Monitors Ministry of Transportation compliance by utilizing and accessing Ministry of Transportation records.
- Ensures drivers are in good standing with the Ministry of Transportation by ensuring WSIB/WCB coverage, Ministry of Transportation records, Insurance records and conviction status
- Responsible for the auditing of all potential new driver recruits for the demonstration of proper skills required to do the role.
- Responsible for accident investigations and is the first point of contact for all accident related police investigations.
- Represents Sysco in all Ministry of Transportation court cases.
- As necessary, participate in grievance or arbitration proceedings.
- Responsible for the implementation of the warehouse to driver program.
- Liaisons with our insurance providers to ensure compliance.
- Train and certify colleague drivers on all Ministry of Transportation requirements.
- Ensure the compilation and maintenance of all training and development records and statistics.
- Identify training needs and oversees training and development.
- Assists with the coaching, mentoring, career development, training, performance management of team with the purpose of improving employee knowledge and skill level.
- Conducts and completes observation reports in the field to ensure safe vehicle operations on the road.
- Ensures adherence to the responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety act.
- Meet with supervisors weekly to discuss employee’s learning, using Progress Report Templates.
- Provide both constructive feedback for improvement and positive reinforcement.
- Maintains colleague relations through regular interaction with colleagues; keeps open communication channels with colleagues by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors colleague morale; and forwards to supervisors’ ideas to improve colleague engagement and enablement.
- Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
- Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
- Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising Sysco’s Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
- Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
- Understands that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization.
- Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by acting as an example and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
- Minimum two years working as a Class 1/AZ Driver in good standing
- 3+ years training and investigative experience
- College Diploma in Teaching, Business Administration, Managerial Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or a closely related field required; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- MOT trainers’ certificate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Sound knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and MOT regulation
- The colleague works non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call
- Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required
- The colleague is required to travel frequently to other sites, the corporate office (as business needs dictate), training, court appearance and accident investigation
