2-Year Limited Term Appointment – Psychology
The Department of Psychology invites applications for a 2-year Limited Term Appointment beginning July 1, 2025, subject to budgetary approval.
The Psychology Department has recently introduced a BA Psychology program at the new Laurier Milton campus (https://www.wlu.ca/future-students/undergraduate/campuses/milton.html) and we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated scholar to teach in this new program. The successful applicant will be expected to teach within the following substantive areas: Clinical Psychology, Community Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and/or Social Psychology.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must have a PhD in Psychology or a closely related field with a background in Clinical Psychology, Community Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, or a related field consistent with the teaching needs listed above. We seek a qualified scholar with a record of excellence in university teaching and service. Evidence of an ongoing program of research in Psychology, and interest in student training are assets.
The candidate must have a passion for psychology education and student success. The successful candidate is also expected to have a demonstrated commitment to service to the University and the academic community, and to scholarly and/or professional activity. As programming at the Milton campus will have an applied focus, we value a broad approach to the discipline of Psychology where the application of theoretical knowledge is key. Also, in line with our focus on experiential learning, we are seeking a candidate with an interest in incorporating experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum and mentoring undergraduate students including through the supervision of independent studies. Finally, the successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to the advancement of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI); you may discuss these efforts wherever they are relevant in your teaching, mentoring, service, lived experience, and scholarship. Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the position will include:
• Teaching up to five one-term undergraduate courses per year in Psychology.
• Engaging students in innovative and effective teaching methods, including experiential learning.
• Advising and mentoring students in their academic and career pursuits.
• Participating in departmental meetings and university service activities.
• Pursuing scholarly activities in a substantive area of Psychology, which may include scholarship related to teaching and pedagogy.
The Department of Psychology is home to more than 30 full-time faculty members researching and teaching in social, developmental, and community psychology, and in cognitive and behavioural neuroscience.
