Under the general direction of, and in collaboration with researchers and faculty members, positions at this level apply extensive knowledge in their field to lead high-level, complex research projects. Compared to Research Associates, these positions exercise greater input and judgment over the research, may be involved in setting research program objectives, and may be responsible for managing the team and project funds. Senior Research Associates would normally hold a doctoral degree or have equivalent qualifications and experience.Position Overview:The primary objective of this study is to identify the stressors impacting the work of Canadian digital preservationists and to quantify their levels of stress in relation to their roles and their digital preservation programs. It will investigate whether the sample is experiencing symptoms of poor mental health and whether there are correlations between work stressors and respondents’ demographic characteristics and employment conditions.The Senior Research Associate will be experienced in analyzing survey data for complex organizational psychology studies using SPSS. They will collaborate with the Principal Investigator in establishing the research objectives and analytical protocols and will independently conduct the analysis using appropriate statistical methods. They will create data visualizations illustrating the results in an accessible way. They will also assist in summarizing the findings according to industry best practices and will contribute to writing a journal article and participating in other knowledge mobilization opportunities such as presenting at academic conferences.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with principal investigator to establish research objectives, analytical protocols and guidelines.
  • Oversee project management of the analysis of research results and data outputs.
  • Conduct high-level and complex descriptive and inferential data analysis on survey data.
  • Create data visualizations (charts, graphs) for presentations and publication.
  • Present project findings to academic audiences via conference presentations.
  • Co-author an article about the project for publication in an academic journal.

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Statistics, Psychology, or Community Health Sciences, or Master’s degree in Science with equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Experience using SPSS software in conducting data analysis.
  • Experience performing health-related data analysis in an academic or community setting.
  • Experience conducting independent research and data analysis.
  • Experience leading research projects.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods for complex organizational psychology studies.
  • Analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills in an academic environment.
  • Prior academic publication history is an asset.
