Job description
Duties:To teach one or more of the following courses during the Fall 2025 academic term.
- RMOT 175: Computer Applications for Natural Resource Technologists (1 workload hour; class scheduled for Tuesdays, 14:00 – 15:00)
- RMOT 206: Habitat Management (5 workload hours; class scheduled for Fridays, 10:30 – 16:30)
- RMOT 306: Environmental Monitoring (5 workload hours; lectures Tues 09:30 – 11:30, Labs Thurs 09:30 – 12:30)
For all course descriptions, see our .14.5 or greater workload hours per week in a semester is considered full-time.Duties include preparation of lectures, labs, assignments, tests, grading of submitted work, and holding regular office hours. RMOT 175 is a new course and will require some course development. RMOT 206 is primarily field based; RMOT 306 involves both lab and field work in addition to lectures. All courses include face-to-face classroom delivery at the Nanaimo campus.Candidates are asked to list in their application letter which of the courses they are interested in teaching.Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from an appropriately accredited institution
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Proficient with use of Microsoft Office applications
- Past experience with course development or re-development
RMOT 206
- Familiarity with stream assessment standards for British Columbia
RMOT 306
- Experience conducting water quality monitoring in a field setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD from an appropriately accredited institution
- Demonstration of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level
- Demonstrated currency in the field through relevant work
