The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at York University invites highly qualified applicants for a Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream position in Synthetic Chemistry. This is a Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) to the teaching stream for a 3 year term to commence July 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach and enhance core undergraduate chemistry courses in the Department of Chemistry https://www.yorku.ca/science/chemistry/ throughout the calendar year, particularly at the first- through third-year levels. Responsibilities may also include coordinating multi-section courses, involvement in electronic course management and the teaching and development of core undergraduate courses and their laboratories according to their expertise.

The Department of Chemistry is a tight-knit community with 26 faculty members, 22 in the research stream and 4 in the teaching stream, who provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for 85 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, our undergraduate student population of 250 Chemistry and 180 Biochemistry majors, and thousands of students from other programs.

Candidate Qualifications:
• Degree: PhD in Chemistry (with expertise in synthetic chemistry) by the appointment start date.
• Teaching:
o A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching university-level courses in chemistry with large enrollments, experience with technology-enhanced learning, laboratory and skills development, experiential learning and/or diverse delivery formats (e.g., in-person, online, blended, flipped)).
o Posses excellent interpersonal skills that foster a collaborative approach in team teaching and curricular development.
