Software Test Engineer

Job Title: Software Test Engineer in Ottawa

Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining automated test cases and test scripts/procedures to ensure the quality and reliability of our systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Test Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, and QA, to deliver high-quality testing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand automated tests using Python and Pytest for software and system verification.
• Perform regression, integration, sanity, smoke, blackbox, and whitebox testing.
• Conduct root cause analysis and resolve network and software integration issues.
• Create test plans & test cases for automated test environment based on requirements and stories.
• Ensure complete test coverage of software features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
• Ensure scalability and performance optimization of testing processes.
• Implement advanced monitoring and reporting solutions.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Python with 6+ years of experience.
• Experience with Pytest or similar frameworks (e.g., Slash, Robot).
• Experience creating test plans & test cases for automated test environments.
• Testing software on embedded systems, GRPC, and PyTest.
• Experience with Git and Gitlab for version control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Comfortable with ‘greenfield’ development; building a project/feature from ground-up.
• Familiarity with Protobuf for messaging between various segments.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Docker networking.
• Proficiency in Linux command lines and shell scripting.

Work Environment

The position requires working on-site for 4 days per week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 – $72.00/hr.
