The Senior Credit Officer (SCO) contributes to the overall success of SAM, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives while also ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.The SCO provides the Directors / Senior Managers of SAM with support needed for portfolio management and to meet client requirements and new requests. This includes: ensuring timely receipt, processing, and accurate analysis of financial and compliance reporting from distressed corporate/ commercial Borrowers; assisting with credit administration requirements, including recording collateral security and preparation of account documentation and Watchlist and Problem Loan Reviews; and building relationships with internal partners and effectively managing relationships with customers as necessary, to carry out their accountabilities.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Contact clients as necessary or as directed for financial reporting; input and analyze financial statements, including projections, financial covenants and borrowing bases; escalate any signs of deterioration and update appropriate systems; generate credit risk ratings, using CreditLens rating models; contribute to the preparation of Watchlist and Problem Loan Reviews; assist with completion of conditions precedent, due diligence and any other requirements necessary to obtain approvals; and ensure client files are complete, reporting is up to date and appropriately documented in various systems.
- Ensure pricing, credit / facility limits, and IG codes in the loan systems are accurate and reflect approvals.
- Support as necessary in the loan provisioning process.
- Support as necessary in other credit-related situations, including the credit fulfillment process, with the BSC and GWO.
- Process legal and professional fees. Track non-recoverable direct costs incurred by the Bank. Reconcile fees with General Ledger/ Tymetrix.
- Prepare and compile departmental budget and track variances.
- Prepare and manage monthly/quarterly reporting for the department including managing the QSR Tracker.
- Adhoc tasks and projects, as applicable.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- You have a university degree with Finance, Accounting or Other Business Specialty background.
- Proficiency in nCINO, C360, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Power BI, and Salesforce.
- You have strong interpersonal skills with a solid commitment to excellent client service and ability to work with clients and internal / external partners to resolve issues in an amicable and prompt manner.
- You are known for having strong organizational skills to co-ordinate and prioritize several concurrent requests from different Directors / Senior Managers.
- Strong written and verbal skills with proven ability to engage stakeholders and clients.
- Strong commitment to accuracy, customer focus, and results focus.
- Good knowledge of Financial Statements and credit analysis.
- Good knowledge of Onboarding, Know Your Customers (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes.
- Good knowledge of the Commercial Banking Distribution structure as well as roles of other groups and partners within Commercial Banking (Business Service Centre (BSC), Enhanced Due Diligence Unit (EDDU) and AML, Roynat, Real Estate, Payment and Cash Management, Leasing, etc.).
- Good knowledge of the features and benefits of Commercial Banking products and services.
- A high degree of flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of tasks.

You may also interact with external parties such as Solicitors, Accountants, Professional Service Providers and External Bank Groups.
- Report to a Director Special Accounts Management.
