Job description:
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool & Die Maker to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing precision dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures used in production. This position requires a strong background in machining, blueprint reading, and problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, etc.) to build and repair tools and dies.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD data to produce precision components.
- Perform precision fitting and assembly of dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Conduct troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on tooling to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Inspect finished tools and dies for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop improvements in tooling design and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Tool & Die apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in tool making or a related field within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CNC programming, and operation of CNC machinery.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools for assembly and repair tasks.
- Familiarity with machining processes including welding techniques is preferred.
- Excellent math skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Ability to read technical documents such as schematics and blueprints effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
