The Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in its Nursing program. This position is subject to budgetary approval and would start on July 1, 2026, or as soon as the position is filled. The successful candidate must hold an undergraduate degree in Nursing [BScN] and will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Nursing or in a relevant health sciences field. As well, applicants for this position must be Registered Nurses (in the Regular or Extended class) and hold and maintain current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, entitling them to practice, with no restrictions.
The preferred candidate will have the capacity to teach in one or more of the following related domains: Acute and Chronic Care Nursing (e.g., medical-surgical nursing, clinically-related courses), Older Adult and Child and Family Health, Mental Health Nursing, and Nursing Theory.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Applicants should possess an established record of excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications, and must also be able to demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. Experience with simulation-based learning would be an asset. In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.
The Faculty of Health Sciences offers several undergraduate honours degrees in the broad domain of health sciences, including specialized programs in kinesiology, medical laboratory sciences and nursing. Applicants should submit in electronic format (as a single pdf file) a covering letter; a curriculum vitae; a statement of teaching interests/experience; a teaching philosophy; and an overview of their current and planned [5 year] research program [including potential funding sources] through the Ontario Tech website. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
