Campus: St. George (Downtown)Course Description: This course seeks to deepen the students’ understanding of assurance and controls and how professionals can apply their professional judgement in ensuring the application is appropriate. The course will build on the assurance courses already taken at the undergraduate level. It will focus on integration and the development of professional skills in addition to providing additional technical content. Students will be expected to understand, interpret, and critically evaluate generally accepted accounting and assurance principles, with an emphasis on the assurance engagement. Cases will be used to develop and apply judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The technical competencies and enabling skills introduced in the course cover and go beyond those outlined in the CPA competency map. Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact. In addition, the instructor is responsible to contribute and attend program events specifically the 2 scheduled case competitions as well as other cohort functions including orientation, team-building activities and end-of-term events.Required qualifications are a Canadian CPA and professional experience in professional accounting firm and/or industry. Preferred qualifications are previous experience teaching Assurance at the university level in a degree granting program; proven teaching excellence; demonstrated mastery of subject area and recent professional experience in assurance and other related accounting fields.Class schedule: Course may be online or in person, depending on circumstances, so candidates must be available and comfortable with both.Sessional dates of appointment: May 1, 2025 – August 30, 2025 Salary:
