As one of our valued team members prepares for maternity leave, we’re seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to maintain financial operations in their absence.Role Summary:Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, project cost tracking, and monthly reporting. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and ensuring seamless operations. This is a full-time, one-year contract position (July 2025 – June 2026) with potential for extension.Responsibilities:Perform all accounting operations and ensure their compatibility with accounting principles and regulationsCalculate taxes and create tax returns, balance sheet, profit/loss statements and similar documentationCreate budget and financial forecastsPrepare timely and accurate financial statementsPerform month-end and year-end close processesPerform audits of the company’s financial transactions and prepare documentation for accounting control proceduresRetrieve, analyze and manage the company’s account informationPrepare periodic reports for the company’s executives and top managersReconcile bank and credit card statementsManage payroll and employee expense reportsKeep corporate information confidential and develop safety measures, such as random database backupsMonitor all updates to financial policies, regulations, and legislation and ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax requirements (GST, PST, payroll remittances and EHT)Qualifications:3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an engineering, construction, or professional services environmentFamiliarity with project-based accountingProficiency in MS Office programs, and Google Applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Docs, and Sheets.Strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyExcellent communication and organizational skillsNice to Have:Knowledge of Deltek Ajera or similar project accounting softwareFamiliarity with ADPWhat We Offer:
