Job Title: Accountant (Contract) – Full and Part Time
Location: Calgary, ABJob Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant(s) to join our team on a contractual basis. The successful candidate will manage various accounting tasks, including payroll, tax preparation, and financial reporting, while providing excellent customer service to clients. Experience in using Sage 50, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Desktop, and knowledge of taxation and compliance is essential. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently with clients.Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Accountant include, but are not limited to:

  • Sage 50, QuickBooks & QuickBooks Desktop: Maintain and manage accounts using these platforms, ensuring accuracy in all records.
  • Client Communication: Handle communications and correspondence with clients regarding missing items and necessary documentation.
  • Payroll & Source Remittances: Prepare and calculate payroll for employees, ensuring timely and accurate payment, and processing source deductions.
  • GST Preparation & CRA Represent a Client: Prepare and submit GST returns, and liaise with the CRA on behalf of clients when necessary.
  • WCB Annual Returns: Prepare and submit Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) annual returns.
  • Tax Preparation: Manage tax preparation tasks, including T1 General and T2 Corporate tax returns. (Nice to have but not essential)
  • Excellent Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, building relationships and trust with clients.
  • Daily Financial Management: Check banking records, monitor inboxes, manage payables, and oversee daily financial operations.
  • Time Tracking: Keep accurate records of every billable hour worked.

Qualifications:
Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accountingSkills:

  • Proficiency in Sage 50, QuickBooks, and QuickBooks Desktop
  • Experience with payroll, source remittances, and GST preparation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Experience with CRA Represent a Client portal is an asset
  • Pay Range: $27-45/hour
  • Contract Duration: 1 year
  • Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week; Part-time, 20-30 hours per week
  • Location: Onsite – the office is located in the Beltline area
