Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated Accountant to join our client’s accounting team on a contract basis. This 6-9 month term position will play a key role in supporting the team with day-to-day accounting functions during the implementation of new software. The position requires a hands-on approach and is based in Downtown Halifax.Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Full cycle accounting
• Bank reconciliations
• Monthly financial statement preparation
• Journal entries
• Month-end close process
• Financial reporting
• Budgeting and forecasting support
• Maintenance of accounting policies and controls
• Maintenance of accounting files and records
• Other day-to-day accounting tasks as needed

Skills & Attributes for Success:

• Post-secondary education in accounting
• Current or in progress CPA designation is considered an asset, but not required
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar, versatile role
• Previous experience in the property management or real estate sector would be beneficial, but is not required
• Familiarity with Yardi software is a plus, but not required
• Ability to follow established processes and procedures
• Flexibility to assist with day-to-day tasks and jump between shifting needs
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Dedicated work ethic with the ability to work cohesively in a small-team environment
