Trillium Gift of Life (TGLN), part of Ontario Health, is responsible for the coordination of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Ontario. 

Our mandate includes increasing public awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation, education of health care professionals and ensuring a safe and effective donation and transplant system in Ontario. 

As a key member of the Trillium Gift of Life Public Education & Marketing team, the Advisor, focusing on Communications & Marketing, develops and executes marketing and communications plans targeting a variety of audiences, including the general public, healthcare professionals, cultural groups and faith leaders, educators and professional services. The Advisor establishes and fosters productive internal and external partnerships and relationships and implements a variety of marketing and communications initiatives and programs to support achievement of TGLN objectives of increasing organ and tissue donor registration and consent rates while encouraging a culture of donation in Ontario.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Develop and implement strategies to build and engage a network of volunteers, ambassadors, and community advocates who can amplify organ and tissue donation awareness across Ontario.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with multicultural and multifaith communities, tailoring outreach initiatives and marketing efforts to resonate with diverse audiences and foster a culture of donation.
  • Identify and collaborate with key community leaders, organizations, and influencers to expand the reach of TGLN’s mission and ensure inclusive representation in public education efforts.
  • Leverage a variety of traditional and digital tactics and tools (i.e. social media, digital and search marketing, media relations, partnerships, events, email marketing, etc.) to execute robust communications and marketing initiatives and plans which support public education and increase awareness about organ and tissue donation among Ontario residents. 
  • Serve as key contact for defined portfolio of partnerships, stakeholders and initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop timely and fulsome annual plans to maximize effectiveness of activities and achieve organizational objectives. 
  • Identify and nurture new marketing opportunities to expand TGLN’s outreach and engagement activities and promote a culture of donation in Ontario, with a particular focus on agreed-upon target audiences. 
  • Measure the impact of plans and initiatives and assess effectiveness, including recommendations for improvements. 
  • Develop and deliver compelling marketing communications materials, such as plans, key messages, flyers and brochures, educational materials, newsletters, web copy, social media content, briefing notes, reports and presentations. 
  • Lead or participate in events organized by TGLN, its partners and stakeholders. 
  • Closely collaborate with communications teams at Ontario Health and Ministry of Health to facilitate information sharing and review of materials as required. 
  • Build strong supportive relationships with internal business and portfolio partners for effective program delivery. 
  • Share marketing and communications best practices and handle tactical assignments with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced and complex environment. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert for defined portfolio of programs and initiatives, based on best practice learnings, and provide expertise and advice across the organization to ensure information, guidance and resources are widely available, known and utilized. 
  • Stay abreast of media landscape in order to develop a strong understanding of health care issues in Ontario in order to inform marketing and communications activities. 
  • Work alongside other members of the Public Education and Marketing team members to support goals and objectives related to projects and initiatives. 
  • Provide marketing communications support and expertise to other areas of Ontario Health-TGLN, as required. 

Here is what you will need to be successful: 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field with experience developing communication and marketing plans for corporate projects and initiatives 
  • Minimum 5+ years of marketing and/or communications experience 
  • Experience working in a large-scale organization; public sector experience preferred 
  • Experience working in project teams to deliver on communications and marketing plans and strategies 
  • Health care experience would be an asset 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent understanding of marketing and communications principles and processes and stakeholder relations 
  • Superior writing and editing skills, specifically in preparing engaging content for a wide variety of target audiences and marketing communications vehicles 
  • Ability to synthesize complex/sensitive material in order to craft compelling content that supports and moves forward Ontario Health’s reputation 
  • Experience in media relations (reactive and proactive) 
  • Strong communications and marketing planning and execution skills with a proven ability to work well with diverse teams 
  • High degree of collaboration and the ability to influence others to achieve program and project objectives while protecting and enhancing Ontario Health-TGLN’s organizational brand 
  • Skilled at balancing competing priorities across a complex organization 
  • Strong storytelling experience with the ability to align strategies to the overall corporate narrative 
  • Proven success leveraging a variety of traditional and digital marketing and communications tools 
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook). 
  • Flexible and adaptive, with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines 
  • Superior multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills 
  • Sound judgement, discretion and decision-making ability 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and experience to work with stakeholders at all levels within an organization 
  • Commitment to customer service
