BASIC FUNCTION:
The Assistant Dean for Community Engagement and Inclusive Excellence will engage with low income and other underserved communities in Rhode Island to implement and develop programs and partnerships. Advise on and advocate for inclusive excellence in the College of Health Sciences. Work closely with university stakeholders to help cultivate an academic, working, and living environment that fosters an inclusive people-centered culture at the University of Rhode Island.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in college and university committees as appropriate.
Represent the college and university externally on matters pertaining to inclusive excellence.
Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Willingness to travel and work nights and/or weekends when necessary.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers, and relevant programs and software.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:
1. Master’s degree.
2. Minimum of five years of community engagement and/or inclusive excellence professional experience.
3. Demonstrated experience and dedication to enhancing community inclusiveness.
4. Demonstrated experience in community engagement and community-based programs.
5. Demonstrated experience leading inclusive excellence initiatives (i.e., justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, community building and strategic partnerships) in higher education, private industry, non-profit, and/or government institutions.
6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with decision makers and stakeholders at multiple levels.
7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of institutions/agencies.
8. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
9. Demonstrated experience and dedication to ensuring equity for underrepresented or marginalized groups.
10. Demonstrated ability to work in a confidential and sensitive environment.
11. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
12. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:
1. Demonstrated experience in higher education.
2. Demonstrated fluency in Spanish.
3. Demonstrated experience with identifying and mitigating issues and barriers associated with recruitment and retention of individuals from underrepresented groups.
4. Demonstrated working knowledge of scholarly research and/or best practices regarding inclusive excellence.
5. Demonstrated active participation in relevant professional associations (e.g., NADOHE, AAC&U, APLU, NASPA, AAAED, CUPA, etc.)
