The Department of Public Health at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Public Health with a focus on community-based participatory research to begin in Fall 2025. The University of Rhode Island Department of Public Health (https://web.uri.edu/public-health/) has a robust undergraduate program (over 300 undergraduate students) and will launch a new graduate program (Master of Public Health) in Fall 2025. Faculty are also able to work with Health Sciences doctoral students. The department is housed within the College of Health Sciences (https://web.uri.edu /chs), home to seven departments, 2,460 undergraduate students and 264 graduate students.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to:
Qualifications
Required:
1. Earned public health doctoral degree in community health, health promotion, population health, health education and behavior, psychology, social work, community development, or related areas with a community-based focus conferred by September 1, 2025.
2. Demonstrated research experience using community-based methods based on publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
3. Demonstrated ability to establish an independent line of research with the potential to obtain external funding.
4. Demonstrated teaching experience in public health with an emphasis on community-based research at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
5. Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups/populations (not limited to race, ethnicity, and gender).
6. Demonstrated excellence in oral communication skills.
7. Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
8. Demonstrated excellence in collaborative work.
Preferred:
1. Demonstrated ability to secure external funding.
2. Demonstrated ability to participate in collaborative research.
3. Postdoctoral experience.
