The Faculty of Nursing, University of Calgary, invites applications for two positions at the rank of Assistant (tenure track) or Associate (with tenure) Professor (Teaching). The appointment will ideally commence July 1st, 2026, or at a mutually agreeable date.
Candidates must have either a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a Doctorate in Nursing or other related discipline (e.g., EdD) and be eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
Applicants at the Assistant rank will be early career academics who have previous professional and teaching experiences in nursing academia or clinical practice. Applicants will have evidence or promise of teaching effectiveness or competency in teaching and learning (e.g., as part of a teaching dossier), an awareness of how to apply scholarly approaches to teaching and learning practices, participation in reflective practice, and professional learning activities related to teaching and learning. The rank of Assistant Professor (Teaching) requires engagement in the research and scholarship required to maintain currency in pedagogy and curriculum design as well as engaging in other scholarly professional or creative activities that strengthens and informs the academic staff member’s knowledge base and expertise.
Applicants at the Associate rank will be mid-career academics with clear evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., as part of a teaching dossier), a demonstrated ability to apply scholarly
approaches to teaching and learning and student engagement, experience designing student learning experiences and assessment strategies, and engage in scholarly, professional, or creative activities that inform and expand the academic staff member¿s knowledge base as an Associate Professor (Teaching). Applicants will have evidence of implementing innovative teaching strategies that support student learning, and have demonstrated ability to create respectful and inclusive learning environments that promote student engagement.
The successful appointees will also have experience in a variety of modalities including classroom, clinical and simulation.

• Statement of teaching philosophy/teaching dossier;
• Statement outlining your program of scholarship; and
• Brief description of present and aspiring contributions to the field of nursing education and contributions to the advancement of nursing education.
