ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Management and Organization Studies Department at Huron University College invites applications for a probationary tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Accounting, commencing July 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to excellence in research and scholarship through high quality peer reviewed publications in their areas of expertise. The Accounting professor will also teach courses in at least two of the following fields: General Accounting, Taxation, Audit, Management Accounting, and Management Control Systems, teaching primarily at the 3000-4000 level and engaging in curriculum development. The professor will provide oversight to other program sessional and per course contract faculty teaching Accounting at Huron while also providing service to their department and the institution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ph.D. in Accounting or related field. Candidates near the completion of their Ph.D. are eligible to apply providing the requirements for the Ph.D. degree will be completed within one year.
• In possession of a CPA designation, or close to completion.
• Strong abilities to effectively teach courses at the undergraduate level.
• Desire to contribute to service within the school or university.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team to ensure consistency across sections in multi-section courses.
• Capacity to work collaboratively and enhance a culture of inquiry, collegiality, and creativity.

Demonstrate ability to:
• research potential in areas such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, assurance, and/or taxation.
• capacity for generating scholarly outputs (e.g., publications, research funding, and engagement in interdisciplinary collaboration) commensurate with their career level.
• ability to communicate the relevance of their research to a business audience.

COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, permanent position. This position is eligible for enrollment in Huron’s Pension and Benefit plans and will be compensated as outlined in the governing Collective Agreement.

Subject to budgetary approval, the appointment rank will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and commence July 1, 2026.
