The Department of Nursing Foundations and Science delivers courses that form the basis for nursing practice and those which are rooted in science (e.g., anatomy, physiology, pharmacology). Specific courses expose students to building blocks of evidence-based care, the profession of nursing and introductory nursing care for those with changes in health and wellness.
In this role you will focus on teaching in classroom settings, however lab and clinical instruction may be included. Travel may be required, and candidates need to meet the requisite skills and abilities of the nursing profession(s). Teaching in clinical settings may also have shift hour requirements, as well as necessary certifications and vaccinations.
Along with the specific nursing undergraduate degree, you will hold a graduate degree in nursing or a related field, with preferably doctoral preparation. You will bring expertise in general nursing practice and in a specific area of nursing practice, adding to our department’s diverse experience in foundational concepts, and will have specific experience in Indigenous ways of knowing, aging and health informatics. You will have a successful record of, and demonstrated commitment to, undergraduate teaching in nursing, and are passionate about excellence in undergraduate nursing education and building future nursing leaders, with notable experience or education in curriculum development in nursing or health-related education. As a collaborative team member with a demonstrated strong commitment to service within your role, you are curious and able to collaborate with others to envision and implement an innovative approach to undergraduate nursing education. A developed, or developing, program of related research or scholarly activity is preferred.
Unencumbered licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nursing of Alberta (CRPNA) and/or the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is required for these roles.
