The Department of Politics & International Relations at Mount Allison University invites applications for a full-time Tenure Track position in Political Theory. The area of specialization within Political Theory is open, with the expectation that the successful candidate will develop the sub-field in a way that provides a broad foundation in the history of political thought. This will include a second-year introductory course in Political Theory, courses in ancient and modern political thought, and specialized upper-year courses in their area of expertise. The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor and will commence on July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates must possess, or be nearing completion of, a Ph.D. in Political Science, have an active research agenda and a commitment to high quality undergraduate teaching.

We seek candidates who will contribute broadly to the delivery of curriculum in the Department’s academic programs (Political Science, International Relations, Canadian Public Policy and Philosophy, Politics and Economics) as well as to provide support to the Frank McKenna School of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach the equivalent of five 3-credit courses, including the Department’s introductory course (on a rotational basis) and courses at the second, third, and fourth year levels. The candidate is also expected to develop a creative, independent and productive research agenda.
