The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences in The College of Biological Science at the University of Guelph is seeking a dynamic and innovative educational leader for the tenure-track teaching-focused position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Exercise Physiology and Metabolism. The anticipated start date for this appointment is July 1, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D in an area consistent with the fields of human exercise physiology, integrative physiology or metabolism, with a demonstrated ability to effectively teach a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in anatomy, integrated physiology, metabolism, and/or lifestyle medicine. Experience in areas of data science, health analytics, data management, information technology, meta-analysis and/or statistics, will be an asset.
The successful candidate will teach minimum of 4 courses/year in human biology-related fields, such as anatomy, exercise physiology, neurophysiology, integrated physiology, metabolism, lifestyle medicine, biology of health and human performance. Courses may include teaching at the senior level in the BASc degree program in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber, undergraduate courses in the Honours BSc students in the Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences, Human Kinetics and Biomedical Sciences programs and graduate courses at the University of Guelph. This position will have a larger service component where course/program development, graduate program coordination and leadership in initiatives in experiential learning, Co-op learning and work-integrated learning will be expected. The applicant must also demonstrate a commitment to scholarship/research within the Department.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary department with ~28 faculty and an excellent record of research in human health, exercise, nutrition, metabolism, biomechanics and physiology as well as teaching and learning, who employ a wide range of techniques and methodologies at multiple levels of biological organization to advance the fields of human health and nutritional sciences.
