The Interdisciplinary Health Studies program at Mount Allison University offers an Bachelor of Arts & Science degree, in addition to a program Minor, which allows students to combine relevant areas of interest in health studies. This program is highly interdisciplinary and aims to be holistic and creative in content and delivery. We invite prospective candidates to review our course offerings on the MTA website and consider how they might contribute. Background disciplines might include (but are not limited to) Critical Health Studies, Sociology, Disability Studies, Public Health, Feminist and Gender Studies, Bioethics, and Philosophy.
Mount Allison is a teaching-intensive primarily undergraduate university, and as such candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching alongside a promising research profile, and the potential to secure research funding.
The successful candidate will teach core courses in the Health Studies program, as well as supporting student research and advising senior Health Studies students.
Candidates with expertise or experience in the following areas will be prioritized: critical health studies; qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods in health research; applied health research; issues facing the Canadian healthcare system; local or global issues related to health equity; health knowledge translation and mobilization; population health models, and/or research areas that fall under the jurisdiction of SSHRC, CIHR or PHAC. Experience working with undergraduate students as research trainees, teaching assistants or as research project supervisors is an asset.
