The School of Psychology promotes research and training excellence. Our professors lead major laboratories, research centres, and institutes. The School of Psychology comprises a strong undergraduate program, two MA programs one of which has a Co-op component, as well as two outstanding doctoral programs: Experimental Psychology and Clinical Psychology. The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs in both English and French. Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty’s master’s and Ph.D. programs.
Description of the position:
The School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa is accepting applications one (1) tenure-track position in Neuroscience at the rank of Assistant Professor. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in applied neuroscience related to the study of trauma and stress experienced by people from minoritized groups.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in neuroscience, particularly in the use of brain imaging to deepen our understanding of the effects of trauma and stress on people from minoritized groups. The candidate is expected to have initiated or be directly involved in a well-established research program that uses neuroimaging methodologies to explore the neural mechanisms underlying trauma- and stress-related disorders, such as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), with the objective of improving therapeutic outcomes.
The candidate may also be interested in mental health disparities and their impact on brain functioning, with a particular focus on minoritized and underserved communities. The following themes may also be of interest to the School of Psychology: the development and application of innovative brain-computer interfaces, such as neurofeedback; the use of machine learning algorithms and advanced computational models to improve mental health interventions.

Terms: Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Note that tenure is conditional on active proficiency of Canada’s two official languages (English and French).
Salary: Salary scale for an assistant professor starts at $94,588 (as of May 1, 2023).
Starting date: July 1, 2025
