Description:
The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy (LDFP) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a three-year full-time Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) in area of Pharmacy Education. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
Applicants must have earned a PharmD or BScPhm with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and be eligible for licensure with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. Completion of a graduate degree is considered an asset. Completion of at least a 1-year hospital or ambulatory care pharmacy residency is an asset. All applicants must have a minimum of five years of professional practice.
We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. The candidate’s areas of focus must be one of the following: general medicine, community pharmacy practice, or primary/ambulatory care. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.
Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry. This will be demonstrated by the application material described below that clearly outlines and presents the candidate’s teaching-related accomplishments, philosophy, awards and accolades, and presentations at significant conferences. Applicants must submit a teaching dossier that includes a teaching statement highlighting philosophy, and previous experience that may include small and large class formats, online teaching, student mentorship, examples of collaborative approaches to teaching, and involvement in experiential education. The teaching dossier should also highlight the applicant’s capacity to contribute to the LDFP excellence in educational scholarship that may include sample course syllabi (either of courses delivered by the candidate or planned for the future), course evaluations; and samples of recent teaching-related scholarly work related to the position; as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing that specifically highlight the candidate’s teaching abilities.
