The Faculty of Science and the Biology Program at Ontario Tech University (University of Ontario Institute of Technology) invites applications from qualified individuals for a teaching focused position at the Assistant Teaching Professor level. Applicants must hold a M.Sc. degree in Biology or a related field; a Ph.D. being highly preferred but not required. Applicants with experience engaging students via innovative teaching approaches and demonstrated teaching excellence are encouraged to apply.

The Biology Program at Ontario Tech aims to provide students with experiential, active, and knowledge-based learning experiences. In keeping with our technology-enhanced learning environment, Ontario Tech seeks a faculty member who will explore and develop effective pedagogical approaches in the teaching of modern Biology. Thus, the successful applicant may pursue some pedagogical research. Teaching responsibilities will include the delivery of undergraduate, lecture-based courses and may include the development and oversight of hands-on labs. Our preferred candidate will be able to teach classes in: Cell and Molecular Biology, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, and Neuropharmacology. This position is subject to budgetary approval and is expected to commence on July 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 70% Teaching, 20% Service, and 10% Other workload each year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty AssociationUOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
