Assistant Teaching Professor in Human Physiology

The University of New Brunswick’s Biology Department invites applicants from qualified individuals for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position that will commence on July 1, 2025. Applicants should demonstrate a strong background in teaching undergraduate human physiology, as this position will be responsible for instruction of large-enrolment Human Physiology I & II and Pathophysiology I & II (lectures and associated labs) to students in the Faculties of Science, Nursing, and Kinesiology. The position will also require management and oversight of several graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) during lab sessions. The position is situated at the Fredericton campus.

To be considered for this position, you must have completed a doctorate in human physiology, or a closely related field. The successful applicant will have demonstrated excellence in teaching human physiology courses at the undergraduate level, working collaboratively, and a focus on student success while maintaining academic rigor required for multiple national certification standards. We seek an outstanding instructor who takes an evidence-based pedagogical approach to university education. Given that all programming is delivered in English, strong proficiency in the English language (spoken and written) is required. Service to the Department and the wider UNB community is expected, and the successful applicant will actively participate in governance and decision-making within the Department of Biology.

A complete teaching dossier includes, at a minimum, the following components: 1) a summary of responsibilities and roles related to previous teaching experience and the context of that teaching experience, 2) a statement of
teaching philosophy, 3) a section in which the applicant shares their strategies, methodologies, and selected materials to provide evidence of effective teaching, and 4) a section about professional learning and development.

The salary range for this position is $79,311-$103,101 as defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022-2025 Collective Agreement section 36B.
