Job Description:We are seeking an Associate Director of Purchasing to join our team in Etobicoke, Ontario. This role will focus on strategic planning, contract management, and vendor relationship management within the nonprofit sector.Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the strategic sourcing plan, aligning with the organization’s overall mission and executive priorities.
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Oversee purchasing processes and systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Complete annual reporting requirements, including compliance with relevant trade agreements and procurement regulations.
  • Provide guidance to departments on contract management and cost control strategies.
  • Develop a multi-year strategic sourcing plan, integrating key business drivers and forecasting assumptions.
  • Analyze non-financial performance metrics and incorporate them into financial KPIs.
  • Drive financial performance improvement by conducting analyses, identifying trends, and recommending actions to enhance efficiency and cost savings.
  • Lead and support the Purchasing Services Department staff, ensuring operational effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Communicate sourcing plans across the organization to ensure coordination and collaboration.
  • Manage the implementation of new contract management systems to streamline processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant procurement directives and trade agreements, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal and ethical standards.

If this resonates with you, keep reading!Education and Experience:The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in Business Administration or Commerce and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.Experience in a nonprofit setting is a plus.A Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation is also required.Key Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in purchasing and administrative software programs (e.g., MS Office, ERP systems).
  • In-depth knowledge of contract administration and law, with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders, including government ministries, shared services, and group purchasing organizations.
  • Proven expertise in purchasing research methods, customer service, and conflict resolution.
  • Leadership experience with a focus on team development and indirect supervision of staff.
  • Experience sourcing IT solutions, managing facilities-related contracts, and overseeing tendering processes.
  • A commitment to diversity, fostering an inclusive and collaborative workplace.

Skills:

  • Expertise in strategic sourcing, contract management, vendor relations, and purchasing.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in team development and providing indirect supervision, minimum of 7 years leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with well-developed negotiation and presentation abilities.
  • A client-service mindset, balancing client needs with policy and budget constraints.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience implementing enterprise resource systems is an asset.

Expected salary

$117874 – 145000 per year
