TD Auto Finance (TDAF) is a dynamic division within TD Business Banking. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business with Automotive Banking Centres located in Toronto, Calgary and Montreal. Led by regional Market Leaders, our team of commercial bankers is focused on providing a robust array of financing and cash management solutions to our clients within the automotive dealership industry in Canada.
The TDAF Commercial team is focused on lending to auto dealers across the country, providing comprehensive solutions to meet their banking needs. Credit exposure across the portfolio includes real estate and acquisition financing, operating credit, floor plan financing, lease lines and equipment finance. Transactions can range significantly in size and complexity from $15mm for small, single location dealers to +$500mm for large dealer groups.
TDAF’s goal is to become Canada’s #1 auto lender. TDAF Retail and Commercial combined is over 900 people including sales teams located coast to coast, as well as teams in credit adjudication, funding, inside sales, loan administration, customer service, collections and recovery.

Job Description:

The AVP & Market Leader, Strategic Accounts is responsible for growing TDAF’s market position amongst the largest automotive dealer groups in Canada. This individual will lead a team of commercial bankers and reports to the VP & National Market Leader.

The Strategic Accounts team has a national coverage mandate, with a specific focus on the top-50 largest automotive dealer groups in Canada. The team currently includes 3 Directors, plus a dedicated cash management team.

Combined drawn loan portfolio is $3 billion, including $1.6 billion of traditional commercial loans and $1.4 billion of floor plan facilities.

As part of the TDAF commercial leadership team, this role will work closely with the other Market Leaders, the VP & National Market Leader, and the VP Credit & Dealer Operations.
Job Requirements:

Build, develop and execute a business plan aligned with TDAF strategy and meet or exceed financial plan by driving revenue, market share and controlling expenses.

Lead and coach the team in the successful execution of the Commercial Sales Methodology.

Develop and maintain productive relationships with our internal business partners including TDAF Retail, the other TDAF Commercial units, TD Securities, TD Wealth, and risk management.

Direct client management and sales responsibility for some of the largest auto dealer group relationships within the business.

Work closely with the various Manager, Commercial Credit within TDAF Commercial to align on strategy, acceptable risks and growth mandate.

Manage and balance the unit’s resources to maximize productivity/control expenses.
-
Lead the unit’s LEI improvement strategies and activities.
-
Maintain a culture of risk management and control to achieve a strategic balance of risk and return.
-
Build for the future by attracting, motivating, and retaining a highly qualified and diverse human resource base to achieve business objectives.
Qualifications:
-
Successful people management experience including effective coaching, aligning teams to your strategy, supporting career development of your staff.
-
Experience in cash flow lending and understanding of enterprise value based credit structures.
-
Experience and demonstrated ability in business development and relationship management of clients with complex credit needs.
-
Results oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
-
10 years of commercial lending experience including sales and credit management roles.
-
Automotive financing experience is an asset.
