Please direct any accommodation requests to our recruitment team.Primary functionThis position is primarily responsible for assisting and guiding the various lines of business across the Regional Services Division. While reporting directly to the Director, Business Services, you will also work closely with the Vice President and other Senior Executive.Home Location: Toronto Provincial Office
Secondary Location: n/aReporting to: Director, Regional Business ServicesKey accountabilities

  • Lead the consultation on the development of divisional and local business plans and strategies
  • Monitor and report on divisional strategy, identifying issues and risks as appropriate
  • Partner with executive management team to assess and improve current business processes which includes brainstorming, consulting and informing organizational decision making
  • Build understanding and capacity throughout the division for business planning, budgeting, risk management and evaluation best practices
  • Oversight of divisional budget information including development of, analysis of trends and forecasting
  • Lead the budget process cycle, as well as the monthly update of information for district management teams and VP
  • Monitor the communication between various departments and districts to make sure that they are receiving the information they need to improve client and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Collaborate with key departments and districts to keep them updated on process changes designed to improve service
  • Assist the different lines of businesses in implementing the plan and resolve any occasional discrepancies
  • Organize and execute assigned business projects on behalf of departments and districts according to client’s requirements
  • Establish methods for testing business applications and create templates for reports used to monitor effectiveness
  • Submit and present on regular divisional reports to Vice President, Senior Executive and Board
  • Provide advice on staff relations, staffing or classification including labour relations, duties and responsibilities of positions and changes to business structures and budget reductions.
  • Collect information about the different lines of business through a variety of methods (surveys, reviewing reports, etc.)
  • Consult with Finance, Business Intelligence, and IT to ensure that the integrity of the data collection process is maintained and enhanced and that there is a shared understanding of emerging data needs
  • Analyze and interpret data to unearth weaknesses and problems, and comprehend the causes to formulate recommendations and solutions
  • Present findings and suggestions with ample justification and practical advice

Required skills & experience

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent of education and experience in statistics, economics, mathematics or computer science
  • Understanding of Legal Aid Ontario business and its operations and how each interact with the other
  • Experience and understanding of project management methodologies
  • Handling highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Knowledge of database design, data management and statistical reporting
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives while remaining flexible
  • Lead and facilitate various meetings on behalf of the division
  • Proficiency in MS Office and a wide selection of business management software (PeopleSoft, SQL, Golden, SPSS, Vision, Skype, Cognos, CRM, ERP etc.) and databases
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical mind with excellent data collection and analysis skills
  • Aptitude in creative problem-solving, supportive team player and professionalism
  • French is an asset
