Job Title: C++ EngineerJob DescriptioneWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced C++ Developer to join our team on an 18-month contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience with POSIX development within Linux environments and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, robust software. This role will be crucial in contributing quality software on the TCU application team, debugging and providing solutions leading to the successful release of software on TCU in customer vehicles.Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain C++ applications within a Linux environment.
• Adhere to coding standards and best practices to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement features.
• Contribute to the improvement of our development processes and tools.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
• Write clear and concise documentation.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactively identify and address potential technical challenges.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience in POSIX development on Linux.
• Strong proficiency in C++ programming, including modern C++ features (C++11 and beyond).
• Experience with multithreading and multi process applications.
• Experience with interprocess communication (IPC).
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with debugging and profiling tools (e.g., GDB, Valgrind).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
• Experience with build systems (e.g., CMake, Make).
• Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., gtest, ptest, c-unit).
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
• Experience with specific Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu).
• Experience with C, Embedded C, CANBUS, Ethernet, VMware.

Work EnvironmentThis position requires working on-site 5 days a week in Ottawa. Join an agile software development team in the Telemetry Control Unit (TCU) organization, where we work on a variety of features that impact the end customer experience.
