They will also work very closely with and take guidance from Drs. Jobin and Hubbard on specific research and knowledge-gathering activities supporting the CRC Program, BTRN, and CAIR projects. They will be responsible for arranging convenings, supporting community research and performing various administrative tasks.Position SummaryDive into the vibrant field of Indigenous Studies! This emerging area of study seeks to understand the experiences and lives of Indigenous peoples and communities, past, present, and future. It explores how Indigenous communities and the countries in which they live influence and define each other, challenging mainstream ideas and suggesting new ways of understanding Indigenous Peoples and their relations with non-Indigenous societies and governments.As a Project Coordinator, you will support the SSHRC Funded Critical Approaches to Indigenous Relationality (CAIR) Project, which is part of Dr. Shalene Jobin’s Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Governance. This program is dedicated to promoting Indigenous governance and self-determination by building and supporting projects and ways of thinking that advance these goals. The CAIR Project brings together an extensive network of Indigenous scholars to study and advance the concept of Indigenous Relationality.In this role, you will be at the heart of groundbreaking research and collaboration. You will work closely with Dr. Jobin and Dr. Tasha Hubbard, one of the co-applicants of the CAIR project, to support both the CAIR Project and the Buffalo Treaty Research Network (BTRN). Your efforts will contribute to a deeper understanding of Indigenous governance and relationality, making a meaningful impact on the field and the communities involved.Join us and be part of a team that is committed to advancing the understanding of Indigenous Peoples and their relations with non-Indigenous societies.   • Provide day-to-day administrative support, including scheduling meetings, coordinating calendars, and organizing Google Drive resources. (75% focus on CAIR, 25% on BTRN)
  • Handle financial tasks such as submitting honoraria forms, tracking expenses, and maintaining budgets.
  • Manage event logistics for CAIR and BRN, including scheduling, venue bookings, and travel arrangements.
  • Update CAIR websites, social media, and communication channels with project activities and events.
  • Maintain positive partnerships by scheduling meetings and updating partners on program developments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post Secondary degree/certificate/diploma in a related field (e.g. Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Education, Business/Project Management) or equivalent relevant experience (Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education, typically requiring 10 years of demonstrated experience in the field)
  • Knowledge of/experience working with Indigenous communities, scholars, students, Elders and knowledge-holders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest and knowledge of Indigenous governance/relationality preferred
  • Organized, with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity in problem-solving
  • Clear communicator with solid written and verbal skills
  • Ability to manage change and stress and establish clear boundaries
