Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).You must be a current MPP student at the Max Bell School of Public Policy to apply.Casual Research Assistant (RA) to support Visiting Professor & McConnell Visiting Scholar, Emily Paddon Rhoads in her research project titled Protection in the Digital Age: Trust and Technology in Local Humanitarian Action, which focuses on the White Helmets and questions of local humanitarian protection in the digital age. The RA will primarily assist with a literature review on the concept of trust in humanitarian and conflict settings.Research & Literature Review:Conduct a systematic review of scholarly literature on trust, with a focus on trust-building and trust erosion in humanitarian action, civilian protection, digital tools, and disinformation environments.Summarize key theoretical approaches and debates on trust relevant to local humanitarian actors.Create an annotated bibliography and thematic synthesis to support the development of a theoretical framework for the project.Responsibilities:Identify and synthesize relevant academic and policy literature.Draft concise summaries and bibliographic entries.Organize research materials systematically.Qualifications:Strong writing, research, and analytical skills.Background in political science, international relations, or a related field.Familiarity with academic literature on humanitarianism, trust, or technology in conflict zones is an asset.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.This position offers the opportunity to contribute to an innovative study on local humanitarian protection and gain experience in theoretical and applied research in global policy, technology, and conflict.Duration of contract: April-1, 2025 to June-30-2025Average Hours of Work: 4 to 5 per weekSalary: $25/per hourPlease submit a CV and statement of interest through Workday.Hourly Salary: $25.00Hours per Week: 5 (Part time)Location: Sherbrooke 680Supervisor: Office ManagerPosition Start Date: 2025-04-01Position End Date: 2025-06-30Deadline to Apply:This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.McGill University hires on the basis of merit and is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community.
