Closing Date: February 14The mission of UHN’s Office of Research Trainees (ORT) is to contribute towards research productivity and excellence at UHN by providing leadership and support in research trainee and postdoc-related matters. The ORT develops high-quality resources, programming, and opportunities to help research students and postdoctoral researchers excel in their research and build their research and professional development skills.Working under the direction of the Manager, Office of Research Trainees, the Communications Assistant will manage and cultivate the ORT’s social media presence to build awareness of the ORT’s resources, programs and opportunities. The Assistant will create engaging social media content to attract and engage a broad audience, including current and prospective research trainees and postdoctoral researchers. They are responsible for ensuring the prepared material is professional, engaging, and effective for the audience and platform.Duties
- Develop and post social media content (including images, videos, and written content) to engage a broad audience, boost engagement, and increase followers.
- Assist with maintaining social media accounts, including monitoring activity and engaging with relevant posts and accounts.
- Liaise with relevant ORT staff to plan, review, edit, and post content.
- Track and analyze metrics and utilize to boost engagement.
- Attend a monthly virtual meeting on UHN Research social media strategies.
- Adhere to deadlines.
Qualifications
- Graduate student at UHN.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills required.
- Previous experience managing social media accounts (X and LinkedIn) to engage target audiences and boost followers required.
- Well-developed time management skills and proven ability to work in an efficient and organized manner required.
- Ability to work independently and in a team as required.
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience using applications like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and social media scheduling applications (Buffer, Hootsuite) is an asset.
- Knowledge of current social media trends is an asset.
