The Continuing Education team within BMO LRCP is responsible for tracking and reporting Continuing Education for the assigned legal entities whose registrants are subject to this requirement. Reporting to the Manager, Registrations and Continuing Education, the Continuing Education Specialist will be working in a team environment and responsible for monitoring and tracking Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) Investment Dealer Division requirements, responding to queries, and conducting internal course accreditations in accordance with CIRO-IDD guidelines. Effective communication and collaboration with internal business partners is crucial for this role. 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Ideally have 2-4 years of experience dealing with Continuing Education or in a related field and have a strong understanding of CIRO-IDD Rule 2703. 
  • Ideally have a good understanding of Canadian insurance, Financial Planning and CIRO-MFD (formerly MFDA) CE requirements. 
  • Will review both written materials and oral presentations/seminars for internal accreditation. 
  • Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in all regulations, directives and guidance which apply to the group(s) supported. 
  • Provide input to business/group on emerging risks, regulatory developments and interpretation of regulations. 
  • Assist management in communicating and implementing changes to applicable regulatory policies and procedures. 
  • Build effective professional relationships with business/groups. 
  • Operate effectively within a high stress environment with constantly changing expectations and regulatory & audit scrutiny. 
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. 
  • Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations. 
  • Will be assigned broader work or accountabilities as needed. 
  • This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2 days in the Toronto office** 
  • Qualifications: 
  • Ideally between 2 – 4 years of relevant experience. 
  • Understanding of CIRO-IDD Rule 2703. 
  • Proficiency in MS 365, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, IIROC Services, National Registration Database (NRD). 
  • Understanding of Canadian insurance, Financial Planning and CIRO-MFD (formerly MFDA) CE requirements is an asset. 
  • Proficiency in French both spoken and written considered a strong asset. 
  • Strong knowledge of business operations & procedures, and activities involving documented practices. 
  • Proficient in communication, critical thinking, relationship management and project management skills. 
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

Salary:

$60,000.00 – $111,700.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
