Key Position Details:
- 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two-week pay period)
- 8-hour, day / evening shifts
- Every other weekend rotation
Job Description:
Responsible for the preparation of all food served to patients, staff and customers. Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety. Regularly trains and mentors employees in the department. Collaborates with leadership to meet quality service standards for food production.
Principle Responsibilities
- Prepares food in a timely, appealing and appetizing manner.
- Prepares food using standardized recipes and proper cooking methods for patients, staff and special functions.
- Adequate quantities of food are prepared based on patient need and cafeteria volumes.
- Records production numbers including leftovers.
- Monitors and responds to demands for menu items.
- Understands special diets and consults with dietitian as needed.
- Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.
- Checks temperatures regularly prior to serving food.
- Labels, dates, covers and store food properly.
- Utilizes sanitizing techniques for food, self and equipment.
- Complete applicable logs and checklists.
- Assists with directing the activities of staff to ensure patient flow and cafeteria needs are met.
- Provides orientation to new employees.
- Provides ongoing education activities for employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of cook experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Vocational degree in culinary or related field
- 0 to 2 years of previous lead or supervisory experience
Licenses/Certifications
- ServSafe Certification preferred
Physical Demands
- Medium Work:
- Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently
Pay Range
Pay Range: $20.43 to $25.75 per hour
The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
