Examination of theories of educational technology, media education and technology education and the exploration and development of possible applications in school settings.Course Credits: 3Number of positions available: 1This course is not Team taught.Teaching Qualification Requirements:EducationMA in a relevant field (i.e. Critical pedagogy involving digital technologies in education; technology and media literacy applications in education)PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an assetExperienceExpert knowledge and experience in:Pedagogical role of contemporary technological media in education across disciplinesCritical media literacy approachesFoundational understanding of media education and its core tenetsBasic technology platforms and media production skillsHow new media can be used in innovative ways to enhance learningExperienced in digital technology as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational systemFamiliarity with the professional competencies specified by Ministère de l’ÉducationOtherPrevious successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate levelKnowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusionFamiliarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiencesFamiliarity teaching blended classes is an assetFamiliarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning toolsOther information:Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructorsMust be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start datePosting Period: October 1, 2024 to October 16, 2024 (inclusive)Hiring Unit: Department of Integrated StudiesCourse Title: Media, Technology and EducationSubject Code: EDEC 262 003/004Location: EDUC 627Schedule: Mondays 14:35-17:25Deadline to Apply: 2024-10-15McGill University hires on the basis of merit and is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community.
