Explores current research and theories related to language and literacy development, learning and teaching. Opportunities for cultivating techniques for aligning language arts pedagogy, curriculum, instruction and assessment will be provided.Course Credits: 3Number of positions available: 1This course is not Team taught.Teaching Qualification Requirements:EducationMA in a relevant field (i.e. English Language Arts in elementary school education) and/or extensive relevant experience as an English Language Arts school educator/pedagogueA teaching degree or equivalentPhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an assetExperienceExperience as a master teacher/instructor in k/elementary Language Arts:QEP English Language Arts program & competencies for K/ elementary grades (i.e. LES -designing, planning, assessment for ELA throughout K/Elementary grades)Critical multi- literacy approaches for Language Arts in K/elementary gradesPrevious successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate levelKnowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusionFamiliarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiencesFamiliarity teaching blended classes is an assetFamiliarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning toolsOtherA commitment to working with a team of committed and engage instructorsMust be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start dateOther information:Posting Period: October 1, 2024 to October 16, 2024 (inclusive)Hiring Unit: Department of Integrated Studies in EducationCourse Title: Language ArtsSubject Code: EDEE 223 002Location: EDUC 211Schedule: Wednesdays 08:35-11:25Deadline to Apply: 2024-10-15McGill University hires on the basis of merit and is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community.
