Mechanical properties of rocks and soils related to physical/chemical properties. Characterization of rock mass discontinuities. Laboratory and in-situ techniques to define mechanical properties of soils, rocks and discontinuities. Permeability and groundwater flow principles. In-situ stresses and their measurement.
