Title: Medical Supply Technician

Employee Working Location: In-person (Dartmouth NS)

Employment status: Temporary Full-time, 12 months

Collaborating with the Supervisor, Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP), and in accordance with the Society’s policies and procedures, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the effective operation and inventory management of the HELP programs in the Nova Scotia Region.

In this role, you will:

  • Dismantle, clean, disinfect and inventory all health equipment to an already determined set of standards.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory count of health equipment in accordance with program procedures and policies.
  • Maintain up to date product knowledge of inventory products and responds to internal and external inquiries for information on products.
  • Organizes and inventories all HELP stock; log into the computerized inventory system, monitor and report on inventory levels
  • Liaises with provincial service centres to access appropriate equipment and arrange for pick up/delivery as required.
  • Orders new stock equipment for the HELP Programs.
  • Shipping and receiving of health equipment; ensure that all orders are properly filled and shipped according to procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform general maintenance of specialized health equipment (specialized mattresses, wheelchairs accessories, walkers,..).

We are looking for:

  • Qualifications include a minimum of 1-2 years experience and a 1-2 year college diploma or post-secondary certification and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Trained and certified for stock picker is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in a work order driven shop environment (e.g., vehicle repair and maintenance) is an asset
  • Demonstrated computer skills are required. A working knowledge of inventory control systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to do heavy lifting (50lbs to 100lbs)
  • A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract is required.

Working Conditions:

  • The majority of time the incumbent is performing work which requires manual dexterity. In addition, the work often requires attention to detail on equipment, machinery or instruments.
