Title : Senior Finance Analyst

Employee Working Location : Remote (Ottawa, ON)

Employment Status : Temporary Full-Time (18 months)

In this role, you will :

  • Prepare standard and customized financial reports, including monthly reconciliations, inventory tracking, project reallocations, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial performance summaries.

  • Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, reviewing and validating transactions, and preparing correcting journal entries as needed.

  • Conduct complex financial analysis, including trend analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling, to support strategic decision-making.

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the financial health and performance of the organization.

  • Provide guidance and support on financial and budgetary matters, including the development and improvement of financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and efficiency.

  • Support audits and financial reviews, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data

  • Evaluate systems, business processes, data, policies, and quality requirements to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.

  • Construct business and financial models, forecasts, dashboards, visualizations, and scenario analyses to support decision-making.

  • Build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to identify financial challenges, develop solutions, and implement financial strategies that align with organizational goals.

  • Provide technical expertise and support to stakeholders and team members in financial analysis, reporting, and strategy execution.

  • Apply analytical tools and techniques to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process optimization.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including refining financial reporting processes, identifying efficiencies, and implementing best practices.

  • Stay updated on financial, business, and technology trends to drive improvements in financial planning and analysis.

  • Ensure all policies, standards, and processes are compliant, accurate, and documented; review, analyze and action change to align with emerging standards and legislation changes to ensure appropriate and correct recognition.

What we are looking for :

  • Qualifications include a minimum of 6-9 years experience and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • May require a graduate diploma/degree in a related field and/or a professional degree, certification, or designation. • Requires expertise in a specialized discipline or broad experience across fields, along with an understanding of interconnections between processes and business units.

  • Experience in evaluating and optimizing business processes.

  • Experience in financial analysis and modeling skills, including scenario analysis and forecasting.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, MS D365) and SharePoint.

  • Experience in financial modelling and forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance.

  • Ability to research and collaborate to identify complex problems, analyze interrelated factors using specialized skills, and develop solutions by integrating expertise, while exercising independent judgment to assess risks and propose actions within broadly defined policies, escalating issues with significant impact or requiring strategic decisions.

  • Ability to influence others with shared interests by gathering perspectives, understanding needs, collaborating to identify problems, and presenting information to reach consensus, often in somewhat sensitive situations with potential for escalation
