Title: Senior Data Engineer

In this role, you will :

• Design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines in the Azure environment for collecting, processing, and storing diverse datasets from various sources.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from different platforms, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and availability.
• Use innovative and modern tools, techniques, and architectures to automate the most-common, repeatable, and time-consuming data preparation and integration tasks in order to minimize manual and error-prone processes and improve productivity.
• Assist with renovating the data management infrastructure to drive automation in data integration and management.
• Use modern data preparation, integration and metadata management tools and techniques.
• Track data consumption patterns.
• Monitor schema changes.
• Recommend and automate existing and future integration flows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams within the Canadian Red Cross to refine the requirements for data consumption and analytics initiatives.
• Propose appropriate and innovative data ingestion, preparation, integration, and operationalization techniques to optimally address business and analytics requirements.
• Educate other data professionals on the basics of data preparation and pipelining.
• Promote available data and analytics capabilities and expertise to business unit leaders and educate them in leveraging these capabilities for achieving their business goals.

What we are looking for :

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as engineering, science, mathematics, or information systems. Master’s preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with the Azure data technologies stack and ETL/ELT tools.
• Ability to design, build and manage data pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata, and workload management.
• Experience with various Data Management architectures like data warehouse and lake house and the supporting processes like data integration, governance, and metadata management.
• Strong experience with popular database programming languages including SQL, DAX, and others for relational and non-relational databases.
• Strong experience with advanced analytics tools for object-oriented/object function scripting using languages such as Python and Spark.
• Strong experience in working with DevOps capabilities like version control, automated builds, testing, and release management capabilities using tools like Azure DevOps.
• Experience in cloud-based data visualization platforms such as Power BI.
• Minimum of seven years of work experience in data management disciplines including data integration, modeling, optimization, and data quality, and/or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks.
• Minimum of three years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business and IT stakeholders in support of a departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiatives.
• Experience working with data stewards and privacy and security officers to move data into production with appropriate data quality, governance, and security standards.
• Demonstrated experience exercising good judgment and commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service and business integrity.

Working Conditions :

• This position requires you to work from home.
• Some travel across Canada may be required for meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.
